Sessions

Bespoke Play-Based Learning Sessions (Ages 4–16)
Working in small mixed aged groups, children choose challenges which excite them using a variety of resources.
Guided by their interests, the children will repeatedly move through the learning line, being supported by an experienced practitioner and their peer group.
Through this process, they develop key learning skills and self-belief. Each child becomes the best learner they can be, laying strong foundations for all future learning.

Parent and Child Sessions
Attending a session with your child every ten weeks, you will hear about your child's learning and development journey, their strengths, areas of improvement and their next steps. This is an opportunity for celebration with a wider audience.

Parent Forums and Talks on Child Development
Our monthly Parent Forums offer a relaxed and supportive space for parents to connect, share, and learn together. Held in a friendly, informal pub setting during the evening, these sessions are included in your package and are a great way to explore how to support your child’s learning and wellbeing at home.
Led by an experienced practitioner from The Dear Academy, the forums are open, non-judgmental, and often filled with laughter as well as meaningful conversations. Parents regularly tell us how valuable - and enjoyable - these evenings are.
In addition to the forums, Elizabeth (and occasionally guest educationalists or wellbeing experts) will host talks on child development, covering a range of topics that deepen your understanding of our approach and the positive impact it has on the children and families in our community.

Children With Additional Needs
SEN (Special Educational Needs) and SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health)
Whilst this approach is important for all learners, children with additional needs make fantastic progress.
Children with autism, ADHD, anxiety, trauma, and attachment disorder have all benefitted massively from this approach. They are supported to develop a positive sense of self, along with a growing sense of safety and control over their world.
The education system can often feel like trying to fit square pegs into round holes. At The Dear Academy, we value individuality and support each child in working through their own unique learning journey - developing their own learning characteristics and overall wellbeing.
If your child has additional needs and you feel they need a different session to the groups of ten, please contact me directly: elizabeth@thedearacademy.com
